Hey guys! Are you one of those people that try to blow dry your hair and feel like you’re all thumbs?
Well, I’m here this week to show you how easy it is to blow dry your hair with a paddle brush.

okay – I love all of these companies anyways, and you will too!
If your hair is curly and coarse then you will need to get a bristle brush. This will help you with creating a lot of tension when you put the hair on the brush which in turn will make it easier for you to straighten your hair with minimum effort. Bonus point: bristle brushes make the hair super shiny!
Everybody else: get a ceramic brush as it causes minimal damage to the hair.
You could go for a metal brush but metal brushes get really hot so you could potentially burn your hair while using it, so maybe leave the metal brushes to the professionals!
So you got a round brush. Now what?!
You’re also going to use some kind of hair product.
As a rule of thumb EVERYONE no matter the hair type should use a heat protectant EVERY TIME!
If your hair is coarse then your prescription would be a heat protectant cream like the Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame Leave-In Hair Treatment by Redken(I love this stuff!), smoothing cream like the Smooth Perfection Intense Smoothing Cream from Pureology, and hair oil like the Frizz Dismiss Instant Deflate Hair Oil by Redken to finish.
If your hair is medium then your prescription is heat protectant spray like the Igk Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Smoothing Spray (works well on coarse hair too!) and some light serum like the Pureology Hydrate Shine Max Weightless Flyaway Serum.
And finally, if your hair is fine then you’ll love the IGK – Next Level Nordic Cotton Volumizing Mist which gives amazing volume and the Pureology Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Hair Beautifier Spray.
Special mention for damaged, overly processed hair (for example if you’ve had highlights or any blonding done to your hair) then substitute the heat protectant with the Redken Extreme Play Safe Heat Protection and Damage Repair Hair Treatment.
If you’re wondering why I didn’t show you how to do the fringe section it’s because I want to do a separate video talking about bangs and fringes because I get questions about them all the time!
KEY POINTS
- Use a bristle brush on coarse, curly hair. A ceramic brush for all other hair types.
- Use products to protect from the heat and help you smooth the hair.
