It’s very important that you wash your brushes at least every two weeks to avoid the buildup of bacteria that could cause skin problems.
To wash your make up brushes you will need:
- a bowl
- mild, moisturizing shampoo
- warm water
- your dirty makeup brushes
- this really helpful gadget! (optional)
- Wet the brush, add a drop of shampoo on the egg, and swish the brush around to clean it.
- Clean the lightly soiled brushes first then the ones with liner, lipstick, and other waxy or dark makeup.
- Continue with the rest of the brushes. Place the soapy brushes in the bowl and set aside.
- Rinse the brushes with warm water until the water runs clear.
- Wring out the excess water, reshape and lay the brushes flat on a clean towel to dry.
- Use brush guards to help the brushes keep their shape while drying. (If you have a lot of brushes they’re a lifesaver!)
- If you donβt have a brush egg just do the same process, only rub the brush either with your fingers or on some other surface.
IMPORTANT! You have to make sure that no water goes near the ferrule which is the metal part of the brush that holds the bristles, as this will loosen up the glue and your brush overtime will be ruined!
And that’s how you wash your makeup brushes! Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions in a comment below!
